Mercy slept past 8:00 this morning, then enthusiastically enjoyed a breakfast of pancakes with strawberries and bananas. Grandma Naomi and Sarah were able to participate in the family present opening via Skype, which Mercy thought was a lot of fun. From her Kress grandparents she got the game Candy Land and some roller skates. From her Johnson grandparents she got several items of Mini Mouse themed clothing. From her mom and dad she got a comic book skirt and new matching super hero cape and her very own balance bike.
She and her brothers enjoyed her new toys while I went to a primary baptism, then the bulk of the afternoon was spent in the back yard. Matthew had compacted several paths around the yard and the boys had fun riding their bikes around. Mercy ran merrily about and spent hours digging in the dirt. It was a perfect New Mexico afternoon.
Oh, my sweet Mercy Percy Girl, what a character you are! You are my mini me in so many ways, yet at the same time so entirely your own person. You are tender and girly and full of hugs and kisses. You love super heroes and wrestling and jumping on the trampoline. You are a complete mix of every member of your family, while maintaining your own unique personality and I absolutely love that about you. I love smooching your round, rosy cheeks and the grasp of your tiny, chubby little hand around my finger is one of my favorite things in the world. I am in awe every time I look at you at the miracle that you came from me. You can't possibly know how much I love you.
Happy third birthday, Mercy!
