Our guests left at 5:00 am yesterday morning and Matthew was off to work at 6:30. The kids and I stayed in our pajamas all day, watching shows, eating cereal, and playing without regard to any messes being made. I blogged, the boys pretended to be Ninja Turtles, and Mercy made a game of dressing and undressing herself over and over again all day long. In the afternoon we made cut-out cookies and the boys played out back for a while. We ate quesadillas and tortilla soup for dinner, then had family night. It was a lovely, relaxed, low-key day. Just what we needed.

Today we got back to real life. Right after breakfast the boys were set to work cleaning their rooms. Hyrum did a great job, and Abraham refused to lift a finger. I was tired of fighting that battle, so after ample opportunity to pick up and with full knowledge of the consequences if he didn't, Abraham ended up loosing every single toy in his room. I took everything out but his bed, the chest of drawers, the clothes hanging in his closet, and a few books. Granted, now I have to keep him out of Hyrum's room where most of the toys are, but I needed a break from fighting the clean your room war.
After the boys had clear floors, I vacuumed upstairs. Throughout the course of the day I also washed and put away five loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, and picked up the rest of the house. Around eleven o'clock my new visiting teaching companion, Megan, came over with her daughter for a little play date and to get to know each other. After lunch, I put Mercy down for her nap and Hyrum worked on homework. I had to wake my sleepy girl up early so we could make it to a play date at Conrad's house at 3. We were there for about an hour and a half, then came home to lay out a smorgasbord of leftovers for dinner. Matthew and the boys spent a little over an hour outside working on the trampoline hole, but it was a bit too chilly for Mercy and I, so we stayed indoors and watched from the window. We ate some popcorn while watching a woodworking video, read scriptures, then put the kids to bed. Matthew and I stayed up to watch movie together and finish off the ice cream from Valentine's Day.
