Hyrum was up and ready for his surprise downstairs right around his usual 7am wake up call. The boys had had a late night the day before though, and Abraham slept in. We made Hyrum wait, which made him all the more excited to see the goodies in his basket. Braums on the other hand was quite a bit less than enthusiastic about it all...
...until he found packages of little cakes and candies, and from then on that was just about all he was interested in. They also got coloring books and an action figure.
In addition to their actual baskets, I made the boys super hero capes. Hyrum was (again) much more excited about this than his brother, but I had actually anticipated that and was therefore not so disappointed in Abraham's general disinterest.
Later in the day Matthew made a batch of rice crispie treats and the boys had a fun time molding them and adding sprinkles and candies. Mostly they enjoyed eating all the sweets.
We considered maybe canceling the festivities because Hyrum was sure Easter was all about eggs and candy and we really wanted to make sure he understood that Easter is actually about Christ and the resurrection. We did a couple Family Home Evening lessons on the topic and by the time the holiday came around, he was able to explain why we were celebrating. We are, however, saving the egg hunt for when Grandma and Grandpa Kress get here in a few days.

Julianne,
I know you mentioned that the Easter baskets were difficult to make, but they are oh so cute and would sell well on Etsy, etc.
:)
