Whew!

The house is clean, dinner is in the crock pot, and both children are happily enjoying some independent play (in separate rooms, so I can count on it continuing for some small while at least). I'm not sure how this week wore me out so much, but I'm beat. I guess there has been a lot of cleaning and organizing going on, and I did stay at recipe group until nearly midnight on Tuesday, but other than that it was a pretty low key week. Abraham seems to be a little less grumpy. I discovered all four of his molars have been working their way out, in addition to that fourth bottom front tooth. Poor guy! His poo and diaper rash have improved though and he's back in cloth diapers for the first time all week. He's also back on the "wake up at 5am" schedule. That means Mama is back on the "wake up at 5am" schedule, which is probably another factor contributing to my general sense of weariness. I'm so happy though. I find myself in awe every day that my dreams have come true and the Lord has seen fit to bless me with everything I ever really wanted: a loving husband and healthy children. Not everyone gets to grow up and be what they always wanted, and I have.

Hyrum had his preschool Valentines party this morning. I tried several times to get him excited about decorating a box and making cards for his friends. But alas, it was to no avail. He spent a few minutes putting stickers on the scraps of paper left over after I diligently cut out red and pink hearts for him to color, but that was it.

So I made his box (a giant pickle jar covered in cute fabric), and I made his valentines (the uncolored hearts simply saying "happy Valentine's Day, love Hyrum" stuck to a bag of fruit snacks), and just like the story of the Hen baking bread, I ate his candy. Not all of it, but I figured I at least deserved the first pick.

What was Hyrum doing during all this? Playing with his sensory box. Hyrum's favorite thing to do lately is to build gardens and bake cookies with rice using measuring spoons and tupperware bowls. It has literally occupied him for hours. I do tend to find bits of rice in strange places, but it's infinitely better than hours of Winnie the Pooh.
