It rained a LOT last week, but the weather settled down long enough for me to get our garden planted on Wednesday evening. An awesome sister from the ward, who also lives in our neighborhood, rode her bike over after our kids were all in bed and we got my little plot planted in about an hour.
On the far left is four rows of green beans, top center is yellow summer squash and bottom center is zucchini, and on the right are tomatoes.
I also gave some love an attention to my house plants, which mean a lot to me. St. Josephine, the Christmas Cactus (on the far left) hasn't bloomed in a couple years but seems to be growing just fine. Maybe she doesn't like all the humidity here. Phil (the center plant in the green pot, which I assume is some sort of philodendron) was getting a bit unruly and needed to be cut back. His type grows long vines and my Grandma used to lead them up the walls and around whatever it was sitting on, but Matthew prefers I keep him a little more contained. And for those of you familiar with Grandma (the plant) she is on the far right and doing remarkably well. It amazes me that a house plant that's been alive longer than I have and that has moved through 4 states and countless houses is thriving as well as she is. Grandma (the person) would be turning 85 next Monday. I am having a few friends over next week to eat carrot cake in her honor.
ps I've updated some of the pictures and blurbs in our bio's.

MOM
sheesh you have nice green grass. I am glad I didn't kill grandma (the plant) while I was over her for a time.
Hello:
Your tomato plants look a little small right now. I bet you started them from seeds. They will do just great, though. There's nothing like home grown tomatoes. I am jealous. After all these years, I still miss midwestern tomatoes - almost as much as Grandpa, the Cubs, and Marshall Fields'.
