Time? Ha!

Perhaps I was just a little bit delusional when I wrote my last post about have all kinds of time now that I'm a stay at home mom. We're on day 4 of Matthew being back to school and I still have 3 loads of laundry to be folded, dishes to be done, and lots of general house cleaning awaiting my attention, not to mention a number of errands that really need to be run. Maybe if Hyrum wasn't on the "wake mommy up every two hours all night long" schedule I'd be more productive during the day, but as it stands most of the morning is spent napping and I have a hard time feeling motivated when my day doesn't start until noon. I love my boy though, and am grateful to be home with him.

Hyrum and I both had our two week check ups this week. The pediatrician said our boy looks great and is healthy. We'll see her again at two months. I went in just for a wound check, and everything looks fine and is healing on track. I am fairly pleased to report that I can button most of my old pants (as long as I stay standing) and only have to loose 15 more lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Anyone who knew me in high school though would never guess I just had a baby. Matthew is doing well too. He had his toe nail removed last week and it's still pretty gross and painful. He has to soak it in Epsom salt water every day so that gives him at least 30 minutes of playstation time which he's not complaining about. Well, I suppose I should attempt to get something done while the wee one is napping. We'll see how that goes.

With every new baby I just accept my fate. I accept that I will just have to forget about the house for a little while and just focus on myself and the baby(and other children). You will get used to things and he will get on a schedule so that eventually you will feel bored sometimes and wish that he would wake up a little more. Just bask in the necessary laziness that is sitting around and holding and feeding your baby. This time can be overwhelming and stressful, but you will have fond memories of it all.

You have 6 weeks to sit on your behind, being lazy and enjoying healing and holding your baby, do only the basic nesseccary cleaing so your house doesn't get totally gross, and then around 5 or 6 weeks, you can set goals to start being more productive. But for now, enjoy baby, this is the only time you'll ever be able to just focus on one child, number two there is way less time to be lazy and rest...so don't feel guilty, bask in this lovely time! I still need to come see baby!! I'm dying to meet him.

I agree. Don't stess about the house. Cook big, easy meals, eat lots of leftovers, and just enjoy being a mom. It is SO fun and it just keeps getting better and better ...

I fully agree with all these wise young ladies. Hyrum will grow so fast and you will wish you still had those times to just hold and snuggle him. The housework will never go away and it will wait for you to get to it. Enjoy my grandson, give him an extra snuggle, and be sure to tell him grandma loves him.
