Highlights Week 39

My mom and sister were scheduled to come visit this past weekend, but with such an intense sickness still potentially lingering, they decided it would be safer to reschedule. It was probably a good thing they did because Abraham woke up Sunday morning with a fever of 102. Poor guy just can't seem to catch a break. He and Matthew once again stayed home from church. Thankfully, whatever was wrong, didn't last too long, and by dinner time he was feeling fine. He had been requesting souffles for a couple weeks and, much to everyone's delight, I was finally up to the task. For our family night activity, we finished playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, which the kids have also been waiting quite some time for.

I buckled down this week and worked diligently on two main tasks. First was to get the homemade rock tumbler video done, which we published on Wednesday. And second, to get Matthew off on his boys weekend. He was in charge of dinner for Saturday night, so I had to get stuff made ahead of time and frozen to last that long. I made a green chili chili, cornbread, and snickerdoodles. It all took far more time than seemed reasonable, but after so much sickness I was happy to be remotely productive again.

I'm trying to catch an event for all of the seminary kids' extra curricular activities. A couple weeks ago we went to a Valley football game where we were able to hear Harry, Spencer, and Isaac play in the band and, as an added bonus, watch Luci cheer. This week the kids and I went to watch Andrew's soccer game.

Matthew left for Angel Fire on Thursday morning. Kacey invited us to join their family at a Chick-fil-a event where there was to be a balloon launch and supposedly free kids meals. She misread the flyer and there was no free food, which was annoying, but there were games and a balloon, so that was something. Mercy stayed with the Ahlstrom's and I took Grant with us to the youth activity, which was cleaning up a park followed by kickball in the dark.

Friday morning was balloon aloft, the official kicking off activity of Balloon Fiesta, where they launch hot air balloons from elementary schools all over the city.

It was not only the kickoff of Balloon Fiesta, but also General Conference weekend: my favorite! The kids and I enjoyed the morning session on Saturday, then we were joined by Santi for the afternoon session. During the 4pm break, the boys and a bunch of other youth from the ward met at the park to play kickball. They then all returned to our house for pizza, treats, and the final Saturday session.

While the kids and I were ballooning and conferencing, the menfolk fished Thursday and Friday, then did nerdy things like making chainmail and painting minis while watching conference in a cabin.

And just because he seems to be the one most likely to do things that make me want to take pictures lately, here are a few more images of Abraham:
