Amy and I went to clean the temple on Monday morning, followed by lunch at Flying Star. I ran some errands on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning, but pretty much the rest of the week was spent seriously cleaning out and reorganizing our master bedroom and closet. It was a much bigger job than I anticipated, but I'm so glad to have gotten it done. It's nice to finally have my personal living space livable again. I didn't take any after pictures, but it looks nice.
The kids made it through their first full week of school. Well, Abraham made it all the way through. Mercy and Hyrum both stayed home sick on Thursday, and Hyrum needed Friday as well to get feeling better. Hyrum likes his classes well enough, but neither he nor Mercy seem to have found their social footing just yet. Abraham hasn't really talked much about friends, but seems to be really loving the school element of school. He's been super motivated as far as his personal goals go, and has already gone above and beyond expectations in the few school assignments he's gotten. Whatever's going on, I hope it sticks. I really like 6th grade Abraham so far.
Mercy got all dolled up for picture day. She's kept a reasonably positive attitude, but has had a hard time adjusting to being "on" all day and has had some pretty slow, painful mornings getting going. I wish I could bottle Abraham's motivation and give his sister a shot of it!
The boys went to Grant's birthday party on Friday night, and Alyssa came to our house for the evening. The boys went to Kaden's birthday party in the middle of the day today, then Hyrum went to a multi stake youth dance at night. So social!
Tortilla, the tortuga, has been making more appearances lately. He's apparently figured out that not only are we not a threat, but if he comes to the back door we'll feed him. He especially likes cherry tomatoes, peaches, and hot dog. I spent an hour pulling weeds this morning, but Tortilla likes to hang out in the little forest that has grown around the apricot tree and I couldn't bring myself to destroy his favorite daytime habitat.
Matthew went to church in London on Sunday, then spent the week at a "working meeting" near Reading. He was able to spend a bit more time in London on Friday, then had a late flight over to Ireland, where he'll be visiting his childhood best friend Danny for a week.
