We arrived in Smithfield mid afternoon on Wednesday and spent a couple hours at the skate park/splash pad down the street from Sarah's house. Sarah needed some professional pictures taken, so at golden hour Matthew and I went out with her and tried our hand at portrait photography.
Our top priority was getting Sarah and Austin's basement framed in, so that's pretty much all Matthew did Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We did take some time to film a comparison video in the midst of the project, and several trips to the hardware store were needed. The builders put the plumbing for the bathroom in the wrong places, so that was extremely vexing and required several changes in the plans, but after three long days of work we left them with an (almost) completely framed in basement.
Sarah and I took the kids to Heritage Farm on Friday morning, then to get beef jerky from the butchery school and squeaky cheese from Gossner Farm.
Grandma Naomi and Grandpa Kip were supposed to join us up in Logan, but they had come down with the flu and were pretty sick. Grandma recovered enough to join us on Friday afternoon, but sadly Grandpa wasn't well enough to come.
Other highlights from our time at Sarah's include riding the 4 wheelers and electric bikes,
playing video games and watching movies,
going on walks, including checking out the Smithfield temple site,
helping with a few other odds and ends around the house,
general relaxation,
and lots and lots of eating. The treat counter was truly a remarkable thing!
Best of all, the boys were able to continue their summer streak of sleeping outside.
We went to church on Sunday, enjoyed a quiet afternoon, then in the evening went over to the Roderer's for games and some of Gabbi's impressive cake.
