Highlights Week 17

Dad was in Alamo for their ward conference on Sunday (which is about 2.5 hours South of us), then had stake meetings in Los Lunas in the evening, so we didn't see much of him all day.

Mercy stayed home with pink eye on Monday. I was able to get her into the doctor first thing so we got some drops and it had already cleared up a lot by the end of the day. She went to school Tuesday, but the nurse called around 2:30 saying she was in tears with ear pain, so I went to pick her up. Dave Jolley came over to see if she had an ear infection, but said it was most likely just sinus pressure causing the pain. She stayed home again Wednesday, so needless to say I didn't get a whole lot done the first half of the week.

Hyrum had his last track meet on Tuesday. He ended up enjoying the longer distance races best, and while we didn't keep close track of his times, he did seem to improve over the course of the season. He also enjoyed running the 4x100m relay with Isaac and Spencer, and for the first time on Tuesday they weren't last place! We're really proud of Hyrum for trying something new.

Mercy had her last swimming lesson on Thursday, then me and all the kids went on the YM/YW hike because Matthew had High Council. That was a busy afternoon/evening!

On Friday Matthew and I finally got to spend some time together. After running some errands and doing some chores, we got to chaperone the multi-stake prom. The dance itself wasn't especially exciting for either of us as we were both really really tired, but it was nice to spend the evening in the same place doing the same thing.

Today was Sterling's birthday. I made lavender and lemon macarons, jalapeño poppers, and classic pigs in a blanket, and Matthew smoked a brisket. We were there from 11am until 7:30pm, which made for another really long day, but we were more than happy to celebrate Sterling's day with him. After the kids were in bed, Matthew went over to play Fortnite at Jeb's house.

And here are a few random odds and ends from this week. Abraham was asked to teach a lesson on surface area to his class, so Matthew spent some time teaching him how to teach. He practiced multiple times on his siblings and I was really proud of the effort he put into the assignment.

Matthew and I happened upon the grand reopening of our neighborhood Walmart and brought a few freebies back for the kids.

My seminary kids love it when I use the trolls in lessons. This week they represented Moses and the Israelites, with a 3D printed charmander to represent the golden calf.
