Highlights Week 15

Sunday was a busy day with Dad in Belen for their ward conference in the morning and in Los Lunas for stake meetings in the evening.

Monday morning I ran errands, then in the afternoon Matthew and I filmed just about the entire liquid nitrogen ice cream video. Kip and Naomi arrived around dinner time.

I spent all day Tuesday editing the ice cream video. I'm not entirely sure what Matthew did with his parents, but I think he and his dad worked on the truck while Naomi did Japanese homework and prepared for her evening class. After school I took Mercy to swimming lessons while everyone else went to cheer on Hyrum at his track meet. We then played with liquid nitrogen for a while, freezing things like marshmallows and gummy bears, and being silly with surgical gloves.

On Wednesday I got to go on a field trip with Abraham to the Cedar Crest Nature Preserve. While we were gone, Naomi went over to Cassie's to hang out with her and Karen, and I think Matthew and Kip continued working on the truck.

Naomi and I did all kinds of meal prep on Thursday morning, then went over to Cassie's for a bit in the afternoon. Matthew and Naomi took Mercy to swimming, then in the evening the boys had their young men's activity at the Bishop's house (where they made ice cream with liquid nitrogen). While the boys were gone, Mercy and Grandpa watched Lady and the Tramp, Grandma had her class, and Matthew and I worked on the ice cream article for the website.

The kids had school off on Friday. We spent the morning at the park, where we played a bit of basketball and tennis, and Grandma and Mercy did an Easter scavenger hunt.

In the evening the Barrios and Karen came over for Cassie's birthday dinner. We served homemade ramen (all five elements made from scratch) and gyoza. The meal was so much work and I don't think we'll make a regular habit of going all out like this, but it was all delicious and a lot of fun to learn about.

It was a very busy week trying to get a video out, teaching seminary, preparing for our big Japanese meal, and getting the kids everywhere they needed to be. It was lovely having the help and company of Grandma and Grandpa though.
