Easter

Yesterday morning we had the ward primary Easter egg hunt.

The church hunt was supposed to be followed up by a hunt put on by the HOA. They advertised a hunt for little kids at 11:00 then one for 6 and older at 11:30, but when we got there they had put out all the eggs for the little kids since so many showed up and there were none left for the older group. The boys and a couple of their buddies had walked up from the first park to the second, and stayed long enough to pose for a silly picture, then went to our house to play video games for an hour.

In the afternoon, Lucas came over so Cassie and Beto could go out to a nicer meal with her dad who had just gotten into town. We dyed hard boiled eggs, which he enjoyed, and then did a plastic egg hunt, which he wasn't really into.

My kids, however, were very invested and found all but three or four of the hidden eggs. Mercy found the big prize, a tiny pink egg with $10 hidden in the garbage can.

Also on Saturday, Mercy was able to use the tie dying kit she got for her birthday, and Matthew worked on ramen broth 2.0, which was made with the leftover meat and veggies from the broth we made for Cassie.

Having celebrated the secular side of the holiday, we focused more on things of the Spirit on Sunday. The kids did baskets full of presents and treats in the morning, but we also had a couple really good discussions about the atonement and resurrection throughout the day. We also got to participate in the blessing of Viviana (which was the main reason Cassie had so much family in town). Cassie couldn't find her blessing dress, so she borrowed Mercy's. Mercy was very excited to wear her baptism dress so they could be twins. Both of the dresses were made by Naomi, so it was extra special to have her there as well.

Matthew, Hyrum, and I sang in the choir at church, and it was nice to have so much family in town that we took up a whole row and a half. I really am grateful to be part of the extended Redd clan. After church and some down time, Matthew, Grandma, and I ate the last of the ramen for our big Easter meal, and everyone else was too full of candy to want real food.
