Week in Review

Monday was Mabel's birthday. We gave her a strawberry and lots of extra love.

Grandma J left at 8:00 am on Tuesday, and I crashed not long after. We think it was maybe side effects of the Covid vaccine, or perhaps just my body's reaction to 2+ weeks of company and stress, but as soon as my mom was gone I got dizzy and had chills and just generally felt awful. I meant to go lay down for an hour until school started, but ended up sleeping soundly until 2pm. I was especially grateful that Matthew was able to work from home and keep an eye on the kids. I have a pretty set schedule and assignments were already made, so all he had to do was make sure they transitioned from one subject to another. I woke up feeling functional, so Matthew was able to go over to Jeb's in the evening to play games (ie. Fortnight until 2:30 am).

Mercy's speech therapy got canceled on Wednesday because of some insurance issues. I don't think either of us were sad to have a little break. Hyrum had a virtual young men's activity that evening.

Thursday was another normal day of school. I did manage to get grocery shopping done in the afternoon though, so that's something.

Most of my seminary students had school off on Friday, so I gave them a home study assignment and we canceled our morning class. After getting our Friday chores done, all three kids went over to the Susan Brown's house to play. Matthew and I went over to Violet's house to help with some packing. Violet is an older, inactive women I minister to. The people who own the house she's rented for over 16 years are selling it so she needs to find a new place to live. Helping Violet has been an exercise in patience and long suffering. She is definitely teaching me how to be more Christlike. We helped pack for about two hours, then ran a quick errand to Home Depot. When we went to pick up the children, we were invited in to visit and ended up staying until 9pm. Susan fed us fish tacos and ice cream, we got to see Artemis again, and the kids loved getting a couple more hours together.

I finished up my Grand Fondo training plan this morning and then we spent the majority of the day cleaning out and organizing the shed. Matthew is trying to get his garage shop in order and needed to move some stuff out. It seems like there is always something else to clean before you can clean the thing you actually mean to clean. It's a vicious cycle that makes us feel like nothing ever gets done.
