This morning after seminary and our morning walk, I churned chocolate custard, made coleslaw, and finished the pulled pork. While I was finishing up, Grandma took the kids to the library.
At noon the Barrios came over for lunch and an egg hunt. Holiday traditions like hiding easter eggs is so much more fun with smaller kids, so it added a lot to all our enjoyment to watch Lucas explore the back yard and discover treats (yogurt melts and baby goldfish crackers) in his eggs. We hid eggs for the big kids in more tricky places so they all could enjoy the hunt at their own level.
We hung out with the Barrios for a couple of hours and enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches for lunch with some really delicious homemade chocolate custard for dessert. Once Lucas warmed up to us, he enjoyed exploring our house and found the trampoline and washing machine particularly interesting. We let him take home some of the toys we've outgrown (he especially liked the firetruck Matthew had as a little boy and the pink car Mercy used a lot). It's super fun to see another generation of toddler enjoy the same toys my kids loved so much. We are grateful to have Cassie and her family close.
