On Saturday I drove the kids and my parents up to the Sandia Crest. Matthew stayed home with Mabel since she's not fully vaccinated yet. We had a lovely little picnic at the scenic overlook area, then did a quarter mile nature walk. The weather was divine and it was so refreshing to get into the mountains. Back at home, Grandma J played several rounds of Uno with the boys and taught Hyrum how to crochet. Before our dinner, Matthew and I took a meal to a elderly sister in the ward who's daughter just died. In the evening we had homemade pizza and watched Artimus Fowl.
On Sunday we had a big brunch with crepes and fresh blueberries and whipped cream and sausages. We did our home Sacrament, spent time with the puppy, and played several rounds of chess and Good Cop, Bad Cop.
Today was Grandpa J's 71st birthday. We went first thing in the morning for a leisurely walk along the Bosque, then went to JoAnn's for more crochet hooks and some yarn. We had a lazy afternoon doing crafts and playing with the puppy. Then for Grandpa's birthday celebration we had venison stew with homemade bread and fruit, followed by my triple chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
It's been quite a while since we've seen my parents and we were all bummed that Coronavirus canceled our May vacation plans with them, so it was great that they were able to come down for the weekend.
