Monday Morning I walked, showered, and then went grocery shopping. In the afternoon I made Macarons.
Mercy was home sick on Tuesday and spent most of the day catching up on the blog. That night we had cub scouts.
On Wednesday morning I did the South Point hike, then spent the afternoon making Macarons. That evening the kids had an activity at the school that was the culmination of the 1 Book 1 School project they’ve been doing. Every student in the school has been reading a chapter a night of the same book, then they’d do activities during the day that related to what they’d read. Though I thought the book they choose was kinda dumb, I loved the idea. It kept everyone engaged during the last weeks of school and was so much better than more math worksheets for homework each night. The kids each found their friends and I hardly saw them the rest of the night. While we were at the school, Matthew went to a lecture on Bears.
I did a quick exercise/walk/shower on Thursday morning, then spent the rest of the day making Macarons.
Friday morning was Mercy’s kindergarten promotion and since Dad has every Friday off now, he was able to go. The kids performed two cute little songs and they each got to walk across in front of everyone and get a certificate. Mercy was so excited for the performance part and was perfectly darling doing it. Matthew and I congratulated her afterwards, but didn’t stay for lunch as we had plans to go camping as soon as the kids got home from school and needed to finish getting ready. We ran a couple errands to pick up supplies, then stopped by the library to collect a book I’d reserved. Matthew thought he had fixed the gas tank on the Highlander, but as we were turning into the library parking lot the car died. Beto came and rescued us, and instead of going camping, we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at the library working on the car. While I read my book and handed him things when needed, Matthew drained and dropped the tank, took out the pump, and tightened some pieces that were loose. When he put it all back together, he put on some securing clips that he hadn’t put on before. We were able to get it home before it got dark, and Matthew feels confident (again) that it’s properly fixed this time. It went remarkably well, all things considered, and we were grateful for that, but we were definitely sad that our camping plans got canceled.
Since we weren’t camping, we were able to go help Jeb do some yard work this morning. Matthew and the kids went ahead of me as I had a few chores to get done, and I met up with them later. We had pizza together for lunch, then in the afternoon we worked around the house while Hyrum had his friend Malik over.
