April

Another long and busy month is officially in the books!

I did a lot of baking on the First and Second, my Mom came through town for a quick overnight stay, then we had a potluck lunch to celebrate Cassie on the Third. She left for Utah and the five of us enjoyed a quiet General Conference weekend together. Matthew left that Sunday for a WIP trip in Kansas City and the next night my Mom came back through town for another quick over night stay. While Dad was gone, Cassie/Beto/Beto's parents arrived and we celebrated Mercy's sixth birthday. Both Matthew and Aunt Karen arrived on the 12th and the next day we did some more birthday celebrating. Cassie's birthday was the 14th. She and the Barrios' left the next day, and we followed soon after to Utah for her wedding. We celebrated Easter with the Kress' then had a fairly normal week with only the regular stuff like music lessons, swimming lessons, scouts, and book club. The kids and I went to a ward dance and Matthew went turkey hunting to celebrate the end of WIP classes. He then left again on the 28th for a WIP trip in Santa Barbara. I participated in and lead my first Activity Days activities, Hyrum did another session of his brain study, Mercy had her well child check up, and all three kids did swimming lessons. Whew!

Mission Prep:
Matthew and I did a session in the Salt Lake Temple and attended Cassie and Beto's sealing. My goal was to make it to the temple at least one other time, but the Albuquerque temple was closed for most of the month for it's annual cleaning and a second trip just wasn't possible. I never really set a proper health and fitness goal for the month, which means I didn't really accomplish much. I was above 130 lbs when we got home from Utah and that was pretty disheartening. I'm determined to do better and set a goal towards the end of the month to get at least 10,000 steps a day. I'll carry that over into May, along with the goal to have a solid month of proper calorie counting. My personal scripture study has also suffered over the last month with so many different people coming and going and my schedule being less consistent than I prefer. I need to do better at making it a priority rather than something that can just be quickly checked off my to do list after reading a few verses. I feel like a lot of good things got done this month, but a lot of more important things got neglected. Keeping my priorities straight seems to be something I've struggled with this year and is an overarching skill I need to work on.
