Matthew left for work as usual Monday morning, then after chores and piano, Grandma and I took the kids to Park Above. In the afternoon, Grandma stayed home with Mercy while I took Hyrum and Abraham to get their cavities filled. At 4:00 we drove Grandma to the airport and sent her back home to Grandpa. We are so grateful for her help. We loved having her here and were all sad to see her go.
Tuesday and Wednesday were mostly spent doing laundry and recovering from the whirlwind of the previous weeks. Thursday was my 37th birthday and considering how busy I've been, I decided to keep it fairly low key. The kids were very excited for me to open my presents first thing. After Matthew left for work, the Jensen's and the Richardson's came over for a pool party and potluck lunch. I'm so grateful for my dear friends Becky and Sarah. In the evening we went over to the Jolley's for a potluck dinner with the Jeb Brown's and the Milo Jensen's. I got to see nearly all my favorite people and didn't have to put much thought or effort into a single meal or dessert, so it was a winning day all around.
Today was meet the teacher day, so Matthew came home in the middle of the day and we hauled all the kid's requested supplies across the street to the new school and met each of their teachers. It was fun to see the inside of the building after observing the construction of the outside for the past year and a half. We found each of their classrooms and chatted briefly with each of their teachers. They all made good first impressions and we are excited about working with them this year.
This evening we made an attempt at camping. We meant to go to Cochiti after Matthew got home from work, but we got a late start and ran into a fairly intense rain storm, so we turned around about half way there and came home. We set up the small four man tent in our bedroom and let the kids watch a movie on my laptop, but then they started fighting and being rowdy, so they all got sent to their rooms to sleep in their own beds for the night.
