January: Baby quilt for an old mission companion Jamie (Gephart). This was the first time I used the heart die.
January: Baby quilts for ward friends Danielle Garcia and Diane Miller.
January: Susan Hildebrecht's quilts. She sent me the kits and I assembled and quilted them.
February: Assorted baby blankets to have on hand.
February: Monkey quilt for Sarah (Anderson). This was for her second daughter and was meant to compliment the owl quilt I made for her first baby. This piece was commissioned and purchased.
March: The last of the quilts Susan sent. This one required some design and piecing.
March: Cotton rag quilt for Mercy out of the scraps that Susan let me keep.
March: This was meant to be my sister's wedding quilt that my mom started over twelve years ago. She did all the piecing for the small center stars and the flowers. I helped piece the larger stars and put together the blocks and boarder.
April: Bicycle quilt for Hannah Brown to celebrate her graduating from nursing school. It was the first bigger than baby size rag quilt that I did.
May: Pea quilt for Sarah Kress to celebrate her graduation from SLCC.
June: Moose quilt to donate to Kristine Redd's parents cabin up in Heber, UT.
August: Chevron woodland creature quilt for my primary councilor Trisha Householder. This was my first time using the diamond die.
November: Moose quilt as a wedding gift for one of the sister missionaries who served in Indiana, Becca (Donaldson).
December: Elephant quilt for ward friend Cailley Moe.
I know there are at least three baby quilts that never got photographed, and I am about 80% done with a custom sized blanket for Matthew but it won't get done in time to qualify as a 2017 project. I knew I wanted to sew more this year and so (for better or worse) I conscientiously chose not to train for a bike race or sign up for anything else that would consistently take a lot of time. I've really loved designing the different pieces and custom tailoring them to their recipients. I have learned a lot. My technique has no doubt improved and I know I have a lot of room for growth when it comes to the creative side. I really like the idea of the center focal points (like on the moose quilts) and I'd like to play around more with the diamond die. The photography side of things could also use some work. I'm interested to see what I create in the coming year.
