Last night I asked on our ward's Facebook page if anyone would like to meet up with us at the aquarium and this morning we got a great turn out. Megan, Hannah, Becky, Des, Kinsi, and I, with our combined 18 children, toured the aquarium for nearly an hour. There were several stations set up with demonstrations, hands on activities, and various sea creatures the kids could touch, which I suppose must be part of their summer program.
The kids were getting restless, so we crossed the square into the Botanic Gardens and spread out for a picnic lunch and some free range running around.
We then spent some time walking around the enchanted garden. This was the first excursion we've attempted without the stroller, and Mercy did remarkably well. Of course it helped to have Becky's oldest two kids taking turns watching over her. It is a sure sign that my baby is done with something when she starts removing clothing. She first took off her shoes, then her skirt, then when she started trying to unbutton her onsie, I decided it was time to go. That's when it would have been nice to have the stroller, because as tired as she was, Mercy was not convinced she was ready to leave.
After naps and some quiet time, Hannah and her girls Lucy and Cora came over to swim. Both our husbands had said they'd be home late, so neither of us planned real meals for dinner. I did make some focaccia and she brought over a loaf of banana bread, so we thought we'd just hang out and snack. It turned out that both their plans changed and they were home in time for a proper meal, so our pool party was cut a bit short. It was fun while it lasted though.
