Seven Years and Sunbeams

Today marks seven years since Matthew and I were married. It was right around seven years from the time I graduated high school to the time I met my husband. While I saw and did so much during that time, in retrospect, those seven years seem so short and shallow compared to the seven I've spent as a wife and mother. They feel like the funny three minute Pixar short before the feature film begins. I'm sure though in seven more years I'll look back and the time I've just spent will seem just as short. Perhaps they'll be like the first few minutes of a movie that are there to introduce the characters and set the stage for the tale about to be told.

We didn't do much to celebrate this year. I've been sick with a lingering cold and Matthew has had a lot going on at work, so we ate blueberry pie while watching an episode of Arrow and called it a night. Our evening was a fitting representation of our marriage though: sweet, simple, and consistent. Just the way we like it.

In other news, Matthew and I got called as primary workers and were assigned to teach Abraham's sunbeam class. I did it alone last week, because Matthew was at home with sick Hyrum, and le Braums kept telling me to go away. He was definitely disappointed yesterday when he saw me once again sitting in his row, but Dad was there too, and Abraham is never rude to me when Dad is around. I think he's reasonably reconciled to the idea of his parents being his primary teachers now though, and if he's not, the year is almost over and in January he'll be a CTR 4 and can once again claim his independence at church. As for me and Matthew, we are happy to have callings and excited for the opportunity to serve.

I will be interested to see how your kiddo does with having his parents be his teachers on Sunday mornings! Many children do really well, while others do not. Blessings, my friend!
