We're just floating along here in the Kress house. Last week was busy but not crazy. We fed the sister missionaries on Tuesday evening and I went visiting teaching Thursday morning. Hyrum went on his first school field trip (to the zoo) on Friday and it sounds like he had a good time. Saturday was a laid back day at home, crossing little things off the master to-do list and hanging out as a family.
We kept Hyrum and Mercy home from church yesterday. Hyrum woke up with a slight fever and super congested, so Matthew stayed home with him. Since Mercy's not in primary yet, and is such a handful during Sacrament Meeting, we kept her home as well. Abraham was also a bit stuffy, but no more than he has been for over a week, so he and I went together. About half way through church his eyes started producing yellowish goop and the discharged increased as the day progressed. Hyrum's eyes starting gooping up in the afternoon and by bedtime I was pretty sure they both had full blown pink eye. Abraham put himself to bed voluntarily a little after 6:00 pm and slept until 7:00 this morning. I got them into the doctor who confirmed the conjunctivitis and wrote a prescription for eye drops. They've spent the time since lazying about. I'm spending the day washing all their blankets and sheets and trying to keep them well hydrated. Mercy, thankfully, does not seem to have caught the virus.
When I explained to Hyrum last night what pink eye was, the following conversation ensued:
H: So, I have pink eye. What's red eye?
Mom: That's when someone uses the flash when they take a picture and your eyes turn out red in the photo.
H: What's yellow eye?
Mom: That's when you are jaundice and have too much bilirubin in your blood.
H: What's black eye?
Mom: That's when someone punches you in the face and you get a big bruise around your eye.
H: What's blue eye?
Mom: It's kind of like black eye.
H: What's green eye?
Mom: I don't think there is a such thing as green eye.
H: I think it's when you turn into an alien.
