Another day, another week, another month gone by. We spent the beginning of May on antibiotics treating strep throat and ear infections. Then Matthew's tooth flared up and there was the long wait for a root canal. Purdue ended, preschool ended, the boys went to the dentist, Matthew had a couple interviews, and we work work worked on the house. I can't say the time is flying by, nor is it dragging. We are so busy and happy and full of life that the passage of time is something I only really notice when I sit down to pay bills or blog.
Mercy is a fearless climber. She is smart about it though, and always analyzes her approach first and has yet to get herself in a situation she couldn't get herself out of. She plots and plans and thinks about things before she does them. She loves shopping and shoes and already has an opinion on what clothes she wears. She'll no doubt give us a run for our money as a teenager. She's still working on those molars. The bottom left is all the way out, and the top left is just starting to poke through. She's embraced the throwing food stage, and I'm glad I have prior experience assuring me that this too shall pass.
Abraham is going through a tantrum throwing/unwilling to do anything for himself phase. These long summer days are sometimes a bit much for him and he tends to get over stimulated and tired. He is better than any of the big boys at driving the dump truck, and loves to do laps around the house for hours until the battery runs out. His hair is turning really blonde in the sun, and he's got an awesome farmer's tan.
While everyone comments on how light Abraham's hair is, they are equally, if not more, intrigued at how dark Hyrum's skin is. The picture below doesn't quite show how brown he's become, but it does illustrate the difference between the new skin under a scab that fell off and the tanned skin around it. Hyrum is outside, shirtless and bare foot most of the day and is loving staying up late with the sun. We are so glad the long winter is finally over.
Unlike the boys, Matthew is remarkably pale for the season. He's been inside working on the house non-stop all month. I've been doing all of the yard work, so he really only goes outside for quick trips to Menard's. His tooth is feeling just about normal again, and he's in full project mode. The month has been a long one that has gone by way too fast. On a wholly unrelated note, once or twice a year Matthew needs to grind down his weird toe nail. He took advantage of his electric grinder being out for another project and the boys were fascinated by the process.
