A Little Bit of Mercy

When Abraham was a wee baby, women at church would often offer to hold him. This was usually because he was crying and I was flustered. They were serving me. Women at church are still interested in holding my baby, but usually it is a request and they are asking for a turn. She is so happy and engaging and people seem uncontrollably drawn to her. Mercy is serving them. I've noticed this a lot lately. People see her and smile. From mere passers by at the mall to the person standing behind us in the check out lane at the grocery store, people seem happier, lighter almost, because of their encounter with her. She truly is Heaven sent.

We are entering the obsessive floor cleaning phase because my little Mercy is officially mobile. She doesn't get anywhere particularly fast, but she has a proper hands and knees crawl and can get herself where she wants to go. She also started wriggling around in the swing, getting herself in precarious positions, so we've retired it and got out the high chair booster seat. She looks so big and grown up in it, and seems to really like sitting up at the table with the rest of us. Her second little tooth poked through a couple days ago. I wonder if she's starting to work on her next set because she's been fussier than usual the last two days. She still sleeps great at night, but isn't napping as well during the day and wants to be held all the time. If I didn't have two other kids and a house to take care of, it would be my absolute pleasure to accommodate her.

Love sweet babies like that! There are people who would give everything they have to have what we do!
