Family Update

Mercy is a droolbot, producing inordinate amounts of slobber with a side of snot. Poor thing has been a bit congested for about a week, making nursing and sleeping a little more difficult, but induces extra cuddles which isn't so bad. I'm sure I'm biased, but I'm pretty sure she's the cutest, sweetest, most perfect baby ever to exist. With all the chaos around me, she truly is a tender mercy sent to me straight from heaven. Her six month stats have been updated on her profile page.

Abraham's foray into the world beyond 2 was short lived. He is back to his wild, disobedient self, throwing tantrums I can't hope to contain. He has made a new move toward complete and total independence, which I want to encourage, but which can be problematic when it comes to things like kitchen appliances and poopy diapers. When he's happy though, he is so much fun to be around.

Hyrum is loving preschool, though he keeps asking when he gets to go back to his real preschool (the one he attended last year). He has been especially helpful lately, but has re-instituted his mean streaks toward his brother. They are either best friends or mortal enemies. I imagine that's fairly normal.

I am doing so great. I've actually gained pound, which itself isn't so great, but it indicates a lack of pain which is pretty fantastic. I think I've just about got all the summer/too small clothes switched out with winter/next size up clothes. I've made some curtains and am working on Halloween costumes. I also have six friends who have recently had or are about to have babies, so I've been sewing a lot which I love. I think it also might be time to perfect my chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Matthew has been interviewing like crazy. Last week he had an on-site interview with Epic in Madison, WI and he gets home tonight from one with Enova in Chicago. He's had several phone interviews with Nielson, based in San Francisco and SPAWAR in San Diego recontacted him now that their sequester is over. We've been pondering and praying a lot about it and feel like a National Lab is really where we'd like to go. Matthew has been in contact with a couple different people regarding some post-doctoral positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico which has been very positive. He's also got an on-site interview with MIT Lincoln Labs near Boston in two weeks. It will be so interesting to see where we end up.

Dylan served in Madison, I want to say twice, on his mission. He LOVES the area. It sounds like you have options all over the country! How crazy and a little overwhelming to decide where to go. Maybe the Lord will make it easy and Matthew will only officially be offered one or two jobs so you can just choose which one feels best, or maybe all the choices isn't overwhelming for you. Hope all is going well! Congrats on eating pain free!
