Matthew had his preliminary defense for his PhD today. He wrote a 60 page document about his research, then gave a 30 minute presentation in front of a panel of professors. His supervising professor said it was one of the best prelim presentations she had seen in a long time. Needless to say, he passed. One step down in his quest to become Dr. Kress. Matthew will now spend the next year finishing up his project and writing his dissertation. Assuming everything goes as planned, he will graduate next December.

I knew he would do well. Such a wonderful son-in-law. Carolynjoy has it right. Julianne, you have been so valient in supporting Matthew and not complaining when he has had to be gone so much. I love you all.
