With the holiday season in full swing and things slowing down at school, we've been working on a lot of projects at home. Matthew has spent most of his spare time in the garage, cleaning, organizing, and building in preparation for finishing up the boys' room after Christmas. Along with aligning all his wood working equipment, he's built a number of jigs and a pair of saw horses that he's really pleased with.
We acquired (another) free piano. This time it was from a family that was upgrading, so the instrument was in much better shape to begin with, not to mention the added bonus that it's a spinet and significantly smaller than the first one. It was a bit out of tune though, and a few keys were broken, so in true Matthew fashion it was immediately taken apart. He repaired what he could, cleaned all the keys and dusted the inside, then stayed up super late putting it all back together.
I've been spending a lot of time at the sewing machine this month, working mostly on Christmas gifts for our extended families (which can be seen here). I also finally finished four stockings in time for all of us to lay out a homemade one on Christmas eve.
The boys have mostly been working on being sick and grumpy. The other day I found them cuddled up together in a makeshift bed. It was very tender, though I didn't get a super great picture for fear of disturbing them.
