Considering Hyrum's new obsession with books, we recently bought the children's illustrated Book of Mormon with the idea that he and I could have daily scripture study together. So far he's really loved it, and I'm amazed at how well he's remembering the stories. It's also been a really good opportunity for him and I to share some one on one time and is a great way to start quiet time each afternoon. We've also started a new method of family scripture study that seems to help keep Hyrum a little more focused. As part of the boys' bedtime routine, we each read two verses (Hyrum repeats his verses, and mom or dad reads Abraham's).
We had the sister missionaries over for dinner and family night on Monday. While they kept attempting to give a lesson on eternal families, Hyrum persisted in animatedly telling them all about how the arrows couldn't hit Samuel when he was on the wall. He then explained how Jesus came and destroyed all the bad guys with his powers, so there's a bit of clarification that needs to happen, but he'll learn line upon line like the rest of us.
Last night, a few minutes after putting the boys to bed and closing their door, I overheard Hyrum reading scriptures with his brother. "Okay, Abri-ham, this is your verse: And an angel came and told Nephi to go and get the plates. Then Jesus came and helped Nephi to get the plates." Then he said something about being nice to mom that I couldn't quite make out.
This morning I was upstairs doing my morning routine. When I peeked downstairs to check on the boys I found Hyrum had gotten out his scriptures and was reading them to Abraham. I disrupted the scene and ultimately ended the activity by taking a picture, but it was a tender moment worth trying to capture.

After Joseph reads Isabella her chapter she takes the book and chooses a story to tell him. It used to be very made up, but now that she is remembering so much she is starting to retell the stories she is hearing. It's very sweet.
How awesome is that! All of it!
