Favorite's Night

There is a group of ladies in the ward that have gotten together a couple times for what we call "idea exchanges." We did one before Christmas on homemade gifts and holiday traditions, and one a couple months ago on ways to save time and money. Last night I hosted a favorites night and everyone came with a few of their favorite things. It's a busy time of year (at least for husbands) so we were few in number, but everyone brought some really fun things. There were toothbrush holders, magnetic measuring spoons, eye liner (and other make up) from Physicians Formula, a Pampered Chef like scraper found at Walmart, a darling homemade baby girl dress, and a children's storybook beautifully illustrated by Charles Santore.

I talked a little about homemade yogurt and had a selection of samples to taste:
Honey vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries
Savory yogurt cheese
Cocoa fudge cookies
Teriyaki yogurt marinade
Tikki Masala yogurt marinade

I really had a lot of fun making the different dishes and getting everything ready, though I think I enjoy the preparation more than the actual hosting. I don't like worrying if everyone is having a good time or if my house is too hot. I don't want to kick people out, but I don't want them to feel obligated to stay. I guess I probably just think too much. I'm glad to have done it though, and am grateful for the society of such fun women.

Julianne,
I make lots of yogurt cheese. I have a nifty kitchen gadget that simplifies the process of draining all that agua from the yogurt. In fact, I often use half yogurt cheese and half cream cheese in the infamous Spinach Dip.
