End of an Era

We had some extra lights rigged up in the garage since we were going in there so often to access the fridge and pretty much everything else we needed. They were  inconvenient to switch on and off, so we just kept them on. All appliances are back where they belong now though and we are no longer in need the perpetual lighting, so Matthew ended this era of home improvement by turning off the lights. It's been a crazy busy week...one that feels like it's lasting forever. We've worked hard though, and here's what we have to show for it:

We don't have enough furniture to fill two living rooms, so we decided to move the couch and tv into the play room and call it the family room. So far it has be wonderful. It is completely child proof, so I can put up the baby gates and the boys can have a kid friendly space to play while I work in the kitchen (which has a straight view of whatever they are doing). We need to hang some pictures and put the curtains back up, but other than that this room is everything I could hope for right now. We'll keep the front room empty while we slowly finish painting, and maybe someday get some nicer chairs and make it a sitting room.

I don't have "after" pictures of the kitchen yet because I'm still in the process of unpacking the boxes we'd been keeping outside under a tarp. I've got all my pots and pans and utensils and everything to wash and return to their cupboards (which would go much quicker if our dishwasher wasn't broken). But, the oven and sink and fridge are all back in place and working great! I am SO grateful to have a fully functional kitchen again and have made a list of meals I'm excited to cook. After nearly 7 weeks of eating microwaveable food, we're all a bit anxious for something out of a casserole dish.

ps I've updated Abraham's bio

Yay for a functioning house....with a kid proof space!! There is nothing better than being able to just let the kids go free knowing that they can just play and not worry about anything else.
Abraham is a big little guy. 19+ pounds at 9 months...good for him!! They are just the cutest little guys!
