If you stand in our dinning room facing the aforementioned view of the back yard tree, turn 90 degrees to the East and look up, this is what you'll see:
A straight shot into the upstairs bathroom.
We felt hesitant about replacing all the drywall and finishing up the dinning room right away. It just seemed like we were missing something, so we waited. Wednesday morning I was praying that we could just figure out what the problem was and get on with putting my house back together. About 15 minutes later Matthew flushed the toilet and I heard water dripping on the carpet. Another leak! At least this time the corner was already all ripped out and exposed so it wasn't too difficult to asses the situation. Here's a view from the top, before the hole got cut. Note how the new linoleum was just laid over the old. This actually made it so we didn't notice the problem as soon as we should have. Water was leaking between the two layers and then back down along the pipe rather than out onto the floor where we could see it.
Needless to say, we've spent the past couple days working on this new project. We're actually really grateful that we discovered this leak before we put the wall back together. To have to rip it apart a third time would have just been ridiculous. Plus, we planned to redo the bathroom at some point anyway and this sort of forces us to just get it done. It's a lot of work, but there are so many blessings to be found in it all and the Lord's mercy has been revealed to us in so many ways.
In other news, here's Hyrum. He has an ear infection.
And here's a picture of my crazy out of control tomato plants. I only planted two, but they have just taken over. Perhaps it's a good thing nothing else really came in.

a. What cute cheeks. I must have turned into an old woman because I just want to pinch them.
b. I applaud your ability to keep plants alive. I have no such talent. ;-)
Blessings come in many different ways. Good luck with everything!
