Yesterday I posted a "letter" to Jo-Ann expressing my disappointment at going to the craft store in hopes of using a 50% off coupon only to find everything already on sale thus making my coupon invalid. My aim was to tell a story about my experience in a different writing style, however it came off in a flippant and mean spirited manner which I never intended. I was not going for slander, or even to discourage people from shopping there. I think it is a fine establishment, full of generally knowledgeable workers and reasonably priced goods. I was a bit miffed that the best I could do was 30% off my fabric and that there wasn't anything in the store I could get for half price, but I'm over it and very pleased with the progress of my craft.
I offer my heart felt apology. I do not wish to be a mean person who says unkind things. I should have more throughly considered the implications of my remarks before making them public. I also sincerely apologize to those who may have read any comments left. Matthew read them before I did and deleted them because they were vulgar and crude and he didn't want those words seen by me or any of my loved ones.
That leads me to my request. I've been considering going private for some time and the fact that random people read my blog and left vulgarities there for everyone to see has tipped the scale in favor of the change. Also, since I added that map on my sidebar I've asked my self things like "who do I know in New Mexico?" and the idea of some (or several) unknown persons following the life of my family is just a little unnerving. I assume those people in New Mexico, and Iowa, and Pennsylvania probably know me and I love that they care enough to keep tabs on me, but I love my little family more and I don't think one can really be too careful.
So, on April 1st the Kress Nickle and Dime will be a members only establishment. I know it's a little annoying to follow a private blog, but I hope it doesn't deter too many of you from keeping in touch. You didn't come off as mean--someone was just being annoying or taking your random post way too seriously. I thought it was ironic how the words of commenter way better represented her behavior than yours. If you go private I will most definitely still follow you.

Okay, I actually thought your post was funny. I have felt the same way about those "regularly priced item only" coupons. Sorry you're having to put up with nasty things on your blog! I'll send you an e-mail.

I didn't see the comments that were left, but I totally agreed with your Jo-Ann's post. I, however, do not have a filter like you do on such matters. I don't think you owe anyone an apology. I shop there still, even though I hate that they pull the lame coupon thing on you. I think it is unfair and I am actually thinking of writing to them about it. I say, good for you for standing up for the little people!
