Abraham woke up Sunday morning looking like this:
We assumed it was just allergies, but he was definitely not feeling top notch, so he and dad stayed home from church. Lucas saw us when the Barrios arrived and decided he wanted to sit with his cousins rather than his parents. We sure love having a bit of family so close by.
The Jolley's came over right after church for leftover hamburgers from the swimming party the night before, then Matthew, Mindy, and Dave carpooled down to the stake center for a couple of meetings. Harry went home, but Scott and Riker stayed and played at our house for most of the evening.
I woke up feeling pretty awful on Monday and slept most of the day. I did manage to stay vertical long enough to make orange chicken for dinner, which Hyrum had been requesting for weeks. Abraham woke up very ill Tuesday morning and proceeded to spend the next two days pretty much passed out.
Abraham recovered enough to go back to school on Thursday, just in time for Mercy to stay home sick. She got the mildest case, and was back to school Friday while it was Hyrum's turn to stay in bed all day. Ps, I love that he still snuggles Panda in his sleep.
This morning Matthew was able to go to a leadership training by Elder Anderson of the quorum of the twelve apostles. He said it was a very neat experience. He came home feeling pretty awful though, and it was then his turn to go through the ridiculous sickness that had been cycling through us all. The kids and I thought we were doing well enough to attend the ward chili cook off and talent show, so we went, but left the second it was over realizing we might not have been up to it after all. This was a strange illness that caused varying degrees of digestive discomfort, as well as extreme exhaustion. Some of us had sore throats and everyone got pretty bad headaches. It wasn't Covid, but boy did it knock us all out.
While at least one person was pretty sick every day this week, life continued on for everyone else:
