Hyrum Turns Eleven

Hyrum wanted to open presents first thing. He got a fancy watch, a folding screen with pandas on it, and a money folding book from his Kress grandparents. From Grandma J he got a guitar pedal, Cassie and Beto gave him an awesome Pokemon card, and Aunt Sarah gave him $5. Dad and I gave him a multimeter, a magnetic dish to hold screws and the like, a board game, and a Harry Potter Lego set.

He got straight to work on the Lego's while I made his requested German Pancakes. He took a quick break to eat, then spent the majority of the day building.

Hyrum asked if we could invite the Dotson's over so he could show Brother Dotson his guitar pedal and they were free to come for his birthday dinner. He requested clam chowder with homemade rolls and the white chocolate peppermint cake. Everything was delicious and we had a nice visit with the Dotson's.

After dinner Hyrum wanted to continue playing Hero-U so we spent some time together doing that. We even let him stay up playing with Dad super late after his siblings went to bed, which he especially enjoyed. The original plan for the day was to have Spencer and Caleb come over, but Spencer got sick so those plans got canceled. We were also expecting the Sleights to arrive this evening for a weekend visit, but weather canceled those plans. It ended up being a pretty low key day, but I think Hyrum enjoyed himself.

Hyrum is growing up nicely and we are so pleased with how hard he's been working and the good choices he is making. He's definitely no longer a little kid and has some really exciting things coming up soon that he's looking forward to. We love this first born boy of ours and are proud of who he's becoming.
