Today we celebrated a whole decade of Hyrum! We started the day off with presents. He got some shirts from his Johnson grandparents, an air-soft hand gun from his Kress grandparents, a hanging pocket contraption sewn by Mercy, and a bow and target from Matthew and I. He was very pleased. He and Dad went in the back yard to shoot while I made crepes. Everyone ate their fill, then Spencer came over and the two boys played video games for nearly seven hours straight. It was Hyrum’s kind of day! For his birthday dinner Hyrum wanted Milanesa sandwiches. In the past I’ve made them out of pre-pounded beef from the store, but we had a venison roast from the deer Erik shot so we sliced it up and made our own milanesa. It was amazing! After dinner we played Castle Panic with a new expansion we got for Christmas, then had Grandma Naomi’s carrot cake for dessert. The game took longer to figure out than we anticipated, so it ended up being a later night than usual, but Hyrum loves playing board games as a family and it was his day, so we did our best to please him.
Hyrum really is a good boy. We are so pleased with the responsible, hard working young man he is becoming and can’t imagine our family without him. We sure love this first-born son of ours!
