Week in Review

Monday morning I spent working on the boys' Family School application, then had to work hard in the afternoon to get my normal Monday chores done. In the evening we had family night.

I got in an early bike ride before the kids were awake on Tuesday morning, which made it easier to go grocery shopping and do chores during the day.

I managed another early bike ride on Wednesday, then Riker came over for the morning after the boys left for school. It was early release day, so we were able to get the rest of the week's homework done before the Jensen's came over for a play date and dinner. It was also on Wednesday that we discovered the boys had matching shark teeth.

Mercy and I went to play group at the park on Thursday morning. When Mindy and Riker left, she followed them and climbed into the Jolley's van after her friend. Mindy was fine with it, so Mercy went home with Riker. I went to pick her up about an hour later and stayed to visit with my friend for a bit while she worked on cleaning her couch. At 6:00 pm we went to back to school night and saw both the boys' classrooms. Hyrum's teacher didn't have much to say about him other than that he sometimes gets distracted, which isn't news to us. Abraham's teacher said he's pretty much proficient at most of the skills they expect Kindergartners to have at the end of the year. He can count past 20 in English and up to 11 in Spanish. He knows all his letters and their sounds and can write his name. She also said his behavior is improving since he's started looking at books when he's done with his work. We were in and out of the school in less than 20 minutes, which has to be some sort of record. Matthew was put in charge of getting everyone to bed that night because I went out for a girls night with Hannah and Mindy. We had salads at Dion's then went to the 66 Diner for cobbler and conversation. I was home by 10:00 pm, which considering the company is also something of a record.

Matthew had Friday off and spent most of it working in the yard. I went by the school in the morning to see about maybe moving Abraham into a different class, then hit up Smith's case lot sale. We ran some errands in the afternoon, then after dinner we went over to the Brown's for s'mores and a movie in their back yard. It was definitely a late night for my little brood, but everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.

Today the boys practiced piano for several hours, played video games, and jumped on the trampoline. Matthew worked on the yard some more, and I was able to do some sewing. We got pizza for dinner and ate it while watching a movie together. Hyrum came out after we got everyone to bed and asked Dad to pull out his loose tooth, which Matthew was able to do with ease.
