In addition to working on the van, Matthew has had his fair share of opportunities to fix all kinds of things lately. Our water heater broke, so he jimmy-rigged that to hold us over until the replacement part comes. Then the microwave died while he was heating up some left-overs. The opportunity cost was not in favor of repairing in that case, so we purchased a new one and he installed it the next day. He also fixed a burner on the stove that wasn't working and got a spare computer that had been out of commission up and running. And, in keeping with his remarkable ability to restore run down things and make them work better, he went out and got me new house slippers and a bouquet of flowers on a morning that I was feeling particularly drained and discouraged. What a guy!
