Part of our moving bonus was that Sandia paid for 30 days of housing. We've spent the last month in a 1,300 sq. ft. house with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms on Habanero Way. It's a 12 minute walk to the elementary school and not quite half hour walk to Matthew's office. It's had high speed internet and cable TV, a gas oven and range, and plenty of other amenities that have made us very comfortable.
There is a nice big bed in the room the boys have been sharing, though more often than not, I've found them curled up on the floor in the huge walk in closet.
Mercy's pack-n-play is set up in another room, and Matthew and I have really enjoyed the master bedroom. There is a lovely king size bed, walk in closet, and an on-suite. We LOVE having our own attached bathroom. I've usually bathed Mercy in our bathtub so I can keep an eye on her while still being able to do things like fold laundry. Lately she's preferred to just play in the running water without letting the tub fill up (Hyrum loved this when he was her age too).
Other things I've liked about this house are the wide hallway upstairs with the laundry area, the island in the kitchen, and the walled in back yard. The kids haven't spent a ton of time out there, but the dirt and rocks have provided at least some hours of entertainment.
Just beyond the back wall is the little park we've visited nearly every afternoon. The community mail boxes share a little parking lot with the park, so we go there to check the mail and play for 40 minutes before meeting Hyrum at the bus stop.
We feel so grateful for the opportunity to have started our Albuquerque experience here. It's pricier than we want to continue paying for on our own though, so now that our 30 days are up, we are moving on. We don't get to close on the Stormcloud house for another two or three weeks, which is not enough time to rent an apartment, so we'll be staying at a motel. The place we've picked is about an hour walk to work and too far for Hyrum to take the bus, but it has a kitchenette and was the right price, so we'll see how things go with 5 of us in one room for two weeks.
