Keeping Busy

On Sunday afternoon we all took good naps. Since we are in rather tight quarters and Mercy won't settle down if she can see everyone, she is set up for nap time in the bathroom every day. In the evening we ate dinner at the Sandgren's.

On Monday morning, we met up with Becky and Hannah at the zoo, then ate snacks at the park across the street. That evening we ate dinner at the Jolley's.

On Tuesday we played at the Stormcloud park, then spent 3 hours doing laundry at the Shaw's house. We live further away from Matthew's office than we used to and it takes him about 50 minutes to walk there in the morning. In the afternoon, however, he meets us at the park, which is just a quick 10 minute walk, and we all drive home together. It means the kids are guaranteed at least an hour of rambunctious play time after school and I get my husband home an hour earlier than I otherwise would.

On Wednesday I ran into a member who lives around the corner from Hyrum's elementary school. She remembered my name from the one time we met at the church in this area and invited us over to her house for the morning. It was a lovely spur of the moment play date and I am so grateful she reached out to us. Wednesday's are early release days, so we picked Hyrum up at 12:30 then went to the aquarium/botanic gardens.

Mercy caught a cold and spent most of Thursday napping. I had planned on attending book club that evening, but it was raining so hard I could barely see a few feet ahead of me, so I stayed home with the family and we watched a movie.

Friday was Matthew's day off. We ran some errands together in the morning, then he served in the baptistery at the temple all afternoon. That evening I attended recipe group. It was a small gathering and didn't last nearly as long as the ones in Indiana tended to, but it was nice to get out and spend time with some fun new friends. The Subway sandwiches we picked up for dinner didn't sit well with Hyrum and as a result I was up with him most of the night while he writhed around in pain and vomited until his stomach was empty.

We had the opportunity to get discount tickets to the Nuclear Museum yesterday. Mercy's stroller is broken, so we set out to pick up a new one really quick, then hit the museum. We couldn't find what we wanted at Walmart or Target or even Babies-R-Us, and Mercy was a major grump, so after spending the morning shopping around, we ended up just going back to the hotel for lunch and naps. We didn't feel like we had enough time to give to the museum in the afternoon, so we did a little more stroller shopping and picked up some food for the Sabbath. That evening I went to the church for a dinner and to watch the General Women's broadcast.

In other news, all the paperwork, etc. for the home loan is good to go and we are set to close on the house. Unfortunately, just a few days before we gave them an offer, the sellers had hired people to stage the house and live there until it sold. Those people, with all their stuff, are still in the house and it does not appear that they are expeditiously vacating. We obviously can't move in until they leave, so that is what we are currently waiting on. I'm not thrilled to continue living in the hotel for another week or two, but I am grateful we are here together, healthy and with all our essential needs met. I've done harder things, and in the grand scheme of things, what's a few more days?
