Today

Hyrum had his first day of our co-op preschool this morning and the unanimous consensus was very positive.

Matthew stayed home today because we ordered new shingles for the roof and they were to arrive between 7am and noon. While waiting for them to get here, he fixed, cleaned, oiled, sanded, and waxed this sewing machine and cabinet we got for free.

We also finally set up the crib. Mercy was loving it.

Our shingles eventually arrived a little after 1pm. It was 97 degrees and high humidity while Matthew unloaded the crates onto the roof. Gratefully it only took him about 20 minutes and he was then able to come in and enjoy some homemade coconut ice cream and fresh pineapple to cool off. Hyrum sat in the Hammock for a while and watched, but it was really hot, so it didn't take long for him to decide he'd rather help me with the ice cream inside.

At one point Mercy was fussing a little and I asked Hyrum to go in and help her be happy while I finished whatever it was I was doing. A minute later I heard him singing her a made-up lullaby. He's such a good big brother.

Abraham had a particularly disobedient day. I sent him to his room for a time out and when I went in to discuss what he'd done, found him fast asleep under his bed.

It was a fairly typical day for me. I packed a little, cleaned a little, cooked a little, read stories with the boys and nursed Mercy. Since Matthew was already home, he made a pizza for dinner and we had a mid-week family date night. After scriptures and prayer, he put the boys to bed while I went to my monthly sewing group where I learned to make pocket pillow covers. I got home early enough for Matthew, Mercy, and I to eat the left over ice cream and enjoy some Buffy before bed.
