The Swimming Pool Saga

The weather turned pretty hot the beginning of last week. I told Hyrum Monday morning that we'd go buy a pool, but this and that kept coming up and it was a couple days later that we actually made it to the store. I waited until Abraham was up from his nap, got everyone dressed in their swimming clothes, and headed outside. We have a little air compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car that I figured would inflate our kiddie pool in just a few minutes, but it took less time than that to set me straight. The nozzle options were not ideal, and the compressor was not as powerful as I assumed. It ran for about 10 minutes, making very little progress, then inexplicably died. I tried several things, but could not revive it. My sweet boys were waiting in great anticipation though, so I settled on borrowing a manual bicycle pump from our neighbor. After over an hour of pumping the bottom rung was barely half full. It was past 6 and my arms were jelly, so I convinced Hyrum that we'd finish the next day. After running an errand, we stopped by the homes of four different friends to see if they had an electric pump, and called three others. No luck. The weather turned rainy though, so I was able to put off the pool until today. We found a pump, inflated the pool, and Hyrum was over the moon thrilled to fill it with water.

He played in it for a while by himself while Abraham napped, then in the afternoon both boys got in. Braums was not so sure at first, but soon realized it was like a giant bathtub that he could stand up in and splash as much as he liked. It's only been in the mid 70's, so not ideal swimming pool weather, but even still, I'm ready to consider it $20 well spent.
