We celebrated my Grandma's birthday on Monday with two of my girl friends from the ward and their combined 5 kids. Hyrum wasn't sure what to do with all those kids in his house playing with his toys, but he warmed up to the idea and everyone seemed to have a good time. I served chicken salad on homemade wheat bread (I love my mini-loaf pan) and carrot cake (Matthew's Grandma's recipe...so good!) I invited another friend and her 4 kids, but last minute they weren't able to come so we had a lot of left overs.
This is what the kitchen looked like after trying to bake and play with Hijo
Speaking of my wee one, it amazes me every day how fast he's growing up. He uses more and more words every day and seems to find a new way of getting into mischief every time I turn around. He can climb up on the dining room chairs, and knows about pushing them around, so pretty much every surface I can reach he can too now. He loves balls, cars, and toes. The other day he was poking at my tummy (we were identifying body parts) and I told him there was a baby in there. He got real close and looked intently in my belly button completely bewildered. Ever since he's been walking around saying baby.
And in other news, Hyrum and I have been blessed with the opportunity to go visit Matthew's family in Utah! We leave tomorrow and will be there for three whole weeks! Matthew gets home a day before we do and will be able to pick us up at the airport in Chicago. We couldn't be more excited, or more grateful. So the blogging will likely slow down a bit, unless Matthew decides to finally post a picture.
