An ode to Hijo

I did actually clean the bathroom yesterday, and I've managed to get all my major cleaning projects for the week done. Quick note about the bathroom before I move on, I don't believe a shower liner that is truly mold/mildew resistant exists. We spent $15 on one that was supposed to rid us of slime forever, and I have to scrub the stupid thing down every time I clean the tub! Is there no cure for this?!?

Anyway, I've crossed most things off my to do list, the car is currently not running, and it's raining. One is not often presented with an afternoon like this! Catching up on some blogging I've meant to do seems like the optimal project, especially since Hyrum is a bit sick today. He's just a little stuffy, but he's really not interested in being more than a few feet away from me. He finally fell asleep under the computer desk and is remarkably aware of when I try to leave the room. With that image in mind, I thought I'd pay a quick tribute to my little guy.

I get weekly emails telling me how my baby is supposedly doing, and informing me of upcoming milestones. Last week it said "Congratulations! Your baby is 40 weeks old!". I can hardly believe that he's now been out longer than he was in. He sure is a sweet guy. He'll cuddle me a little when it's bedtime and he's tired, but usually he is on the move. He crawls almost faster than I can keep up with, and can pull himself to standing using anything remotely stable. I bet he could walk soon if he put his mind to it, but crawling gets him where he wants to go and he seems quite content with that. He talks a lot, mostly to himself. I imagine he's telling himself the most amusing stories, because often in the middle of his babbling he starts laughing. He has the best giggle in the whole world. He likes to make noise by slapping things with his hands and banging things together. He's not a huge fan of closed doors. He's cut both of his front bottom teeth, and is getting better at the sippy cup. I am very impressed with his pincer grasp and his ability to pick up very small objects with just his thumb and pointer finger. He's grown some hair, finally. I think ultimately it will be dark like Matthew's, but right now it's light and super fine. His head is so soft. And as always, he continues to be such a happy little guy.

A number of people said they had problems with the slide show I posted, so here are a couple pictures for your viewing pleasure.
