My days have been quite full as of late, but not many pictures have been taken and nothing incredibly remarkable seems to have occurred. Yesterday though something out of the ordinary happened which gives me something to *blog about. A construction crew was doing some digging not far from here and hit a natural gas line. It took them several hours to get it turned off and the University was shut down and evacuated. It was recommended that those living within a one mile radius also evacuate the area. We probably would have been fine staying (most of the people I've talked to did) but Matthew had gotten a big headache having walked through the thick of it on his way home, so we decided to crash his parents home in West Jordan for the night. We had a lovely evening playing games and talking, and the air was all cleared up when I got home this morning. So there you go blogging world. A little something mildly exciting. Now that my blogging juices are flowing, here's a smattering of other sundry events that you may or may not find amusing:
Matthew left early today for Indiana. He is attending an open house for accepted students as well as looking at some housing options. I miss him already, especially since he said he'd take out the smelly trash before he left, but due to the confusion of evacuating, it remains stinking up my kitchen.
Our bathroom sink, while still somewhat caked with grime, has finally been unclogged and can now be used again (as long as you don't look to closely or breath too deeply). I think our neighbour, with whom we share plumbing, was soaking wheat in his sink and that caused the initial problem.
We got two new games: Puerto Rico and Loot. Matthew had a gift card that needed using and we had played the first game with his aunt and really enjoyed it. We played Loot with his parents and sister last night and it was pretty fun as well.
Hyrum now consistently sleeps through the night. I've enjoyed a whole weeks worth of uninterrupted slumber! In other Hijo news, he weighs 10 lb 10 oz and is 22 inches long. This puts him in the 6th percentile for weight and the 17th for height. He's my little guy!
And finally, though perhaps it should have been first, I won my first prize from a raffle this past weekend! We went to a "Twilight" release party at our local grocery store. We went for the free pizza and ice cream, and entered the drawing because we're Kress' and like free stuff. I was the very last name called and went home with my very own 1 inch button of Edward and Bella. What luck!
*as a wholly unrelated side comment, I find it amusing that blog has become not only a noun but a verb, like unto google. I love how language allows us to do that.
