Several weeks ago Matthew and I stopped by Lowe's Hardware to pick up some things for him to build a rocket. Outside the store there were a couple tables and stands with a random assortment of discontinued products. We soon learned that all one had to do was ask the worker standing there how much an item was, and he'd mark some ridiculously low price on it. You had to do this quick though, because things were literally being taken off carts and out of people's hands. Matthew was born for this moment though, and he went to work. We ended up with a number of impressive deals, including a fantastic $260 area rug for $50. I've been meaning to post about our good fortune in obtaining my new favorite addition to our home, but hadn't taken pictures off my camera yet. So, be it a few weeks late, here is a visual of the transformation of our living room:
Our sad naked floor and ugly cinder block wall.

We pushed all the contents of our small living room into our even smaller dinning area to fit in the rug.

Our room's new look, complete with carpet! Yep, one area rug covered our entire living room floor. The wall is still cinder block, but it not quite as exposed now and the vents along the floor are hidden. It's a very cozy room and I am grateful to my sweet husband for making it all possible.
