Best birthday ever!

First, and best of all, Matthew is home! He got back Friday night about 9:30 and I am so happy.

We went to bed pretty late on Friday, so we slept in on Saturday. He let me lay around a bit longer while he got up and made waffles. After breakfast I got to open some presents. Matthew got me some earrings from Mexico, a new band that I can wear now that my hands are swollen and my normal wedding rings are getting snug, my favorite conditioner that is way too pricey to buy on a regular basis, and 132 Disney movies/cartoons. It's this great set that has everything from Steam Boat Willie and Snow White to Ratatoulli. It came from China, so the box got a little banged up and you have to turn the Mandarin subtitles off, but I'm super excited and think it's just about the greatest thing ever. One of my best friends also sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Here's a picture so you can see how pretty they are.

We decided to try out one of our new movies, so we spent the morning watching Gulliver's Travels. It really had very little to do with the actual book, but we had the English subtitles on (which we think must have been translated from Chinese subtitles) and that made an otherwise rather slow movie a bit more comical. I was still pretty tired, so I took a nap in the early afternoon while Matthew cleaned up. Isn't that every girl's dream come true! We went down to South Jordan for the Utah County Fair. His sister was singing in a talent show, so we went to support her and see all the ribbons she won. She's quite the young lady I must say. The best part of the fair though was the pig race. I'm not kidding, this made my whole day:

Matthew "bet" on the winning pig, so we got a ribbon that says "My Pig Won". I'm going to scrapbook it. We went to the little petting zoo area, and I found it amusing that the selection of animals included various sized goats, two turtles, and some baby kangaroos. You could only look at the kangaroos, but still, what an odd combination for a county fair. We walked around until we had pretty much seen what there was to see and it started raining. It was a lot of fun. We tried doing a little maternity shopping, but I think that's much more enjoyably done alone or with a girl friend. We didn't have much luck, so we went to Matthew's parents house to eat some food and watch another movie. We watched "Valiant" which we are pretty sure is not actually a Disney movie. Turns out we also have some Warner's Brother's in our new collection as well. Random. Around 9:30 we went and watched some fireworks put on by a festival in Kearns. I like fireworks and it was the perfect ending to my fantastic day. We are going to my in-laws for the best meal ever for dinner tonight, so the celebration just keeps on going. August 9th has been something of a dark day for the past several years, so I really appreciate all those who have contributed to this really great weekend, and who have helped put a better taste in my mouth for the whole "birthday" thing.

I am glad that you had a good birthday. Happy Birthday, btw. I have Valiant and it is actually a Disney movie. Not Disney and Pixar, but a Disney movie. Disney is only doing computer animated films now. Which is pretty lame.
