Grandma Naomi and Grandpa Kip were supposed to come visit this past week, but Sterling discovered on Sunday night that he tested positive for Covid and Matthew had spent the entire weekend in close quarters with him, so his parents decided not to risk exposure. That kind of put a damper on our spirits and pretty much all the fun meals and activities I had planned got axed. I was very sad, but with all my plans canceled, I was finally able to get the blog all caught up. It was a many hour multi-day endeavor, and I was grateful to get the weight of that project off my mind.
The kids had school off starting on Wednesday, and because of his exposure (despite being vaccinated and showing no symptoms) Matthew had to work from home all week. Conveniently, he had a virtual conference he was attending so his schedule was pretty loose and he was able to spend quite a bit of time around the family. He and Hyrum got the forge up and running and were able to actually make a few things. There are definitely still some kinks to work out, but they sure had a good time learning and figuring things out.
Mercy walked Mabel with me every morning, and on Thursday she and I went on a little bike ride together.
Abraham's fall break request was to go a a proper skatepark, which we fit in on Friday.
Saturday looked like most other Saturdays, with chores and errands and a fair bit of hanging out. That night the kids had their last sleepover in the dog run with Mabel.
It definitely wasn't the epic fall break I was planning on, but we ate easy food, watched a few movies, did some fun activities, and generally enjoyed the time off. It was certainly nice to have a break from early morning seminary classes and it was nice that Matthew was able to be around so much. We got some good work done and played and rested, so looking back, it wasn't entirely disappointing.
