If February dragged, March so far is flying by. This past week was a whirlwind of activity:
Monday:
Abraham just wasn't kicking his congestion and had started complaining that his ear was bothering him. His rash from a couple months ago had also flared up again and had produced some pretty big sores, so I called the pediatrician's office and was able to get him in first thing in the morning. We dropped Dad off on campus then headed across the river. Abraham's ears were full of wax, and needed to be cleaned out by the nurse before the doctor could see anything. He did not enjoy the process very much. She identified an infection and prescribed Amoxicillin. She also checked out his skin and prescribed something for that as well. We then spent an hour at Walmart waiting for his medicines to get filled due to some issues with the order. We got home around noon, had lunch, and put Mercy down for a nap. I then spent the afternoon baking. We have some new neighbors that I wanted to greet and I needed to do some prep for the meal I was making the next day.
Tuesday:
I dropped Hyrum off at preschool at 9:00 then went to aerobics at the church. After exercising, I went home to shower, pack some snacks, and collect Mercy and Abraham for a potluck lunch at Parker's house. The four of us who do the co-op preschool had a fun time chatting and eating yummy food while the boys and their younger brothers played. We got home around 12:30, put Mercy down, and I again spent the afternoon in the kitchen. I made enchiladas and apple pie for a friend of mine whose mother just passed away. I visited with her for a while after delivering the meal, then came home to eat our own enchiladas. The boys and I then went next door to meet our neighbors and give them the cookies we'd baked the day before. They are a young couple who just graduated from Purdue and have an 18 month old boy. They were super nice and invited us in to play for a while.
Wednesday:
Matthew gave a presentation to a ladies organization, which went really well, then had a Skype interview for a postdoc position at the University of Utah. We should hear news on that in about two weeks. Between running Matthew to and from school and the other daily tasks of tending to and cleaning up after three little people, I spent several hours wrapping boxes for our quarterly Relief Society meeting.
Thursday:
I dropped Hyrum off at preschool and went to aerobics. Our committee then met at the church at 10 to set up for the activity that night. We combined with the 1st ward and they were in charge of dinner while we did the decorations and dessert. I'm super pleased with how it turned out. We did a black/white/turquoise birthday theme. I didn't get a picture of the finished dessert table, but we made cupcake stands out of different sized wrapped boxes and it looked super fun once all the different cupcakes that people brought were placed on and around them.
After decorating, I went home to feed everyone and shower. Mercy was running a fever, had spent the past couple nights fussing and hardly sleeping, and had started pulling at her ears, so at 3:30 I loaded her into the car and we headed back across the river for round two at the pediatrician's office. She too had to have her ears de-waxed and she too had an infection. Poor thing has not been a happy camper. Matthew teaches Wednesday and Thursday nights, so we hurried home in time to hand the car off to him and do some last minute picking up before the babysitter arrived. A friend in the ward dropped off her daughter to watch the boys and drove Mercy and I to the activity. It was a fun, low key meal with a short thought and time to socialize. Mercy was reasonably content hanging out in the baby carrier the whole time and I am glad I was able to go.
Friday:
I woke up feeling pretty lousy. I was able to do some grocery shopping and drop off cookies to celebrate a friend's birthday, but the rest of the day was spent resting and hanging out with the family. Matthew ran some errands with Hyrum and in the afternoon we ate focaccia bread and watched Thor 2.
Saturday:
With less than two months before the semester ends, we have A LOT of work to do on the house. We therefore spent the day preparing for our next big push. While Matthew spent most of the day purging and organizing the attic, I packed up two big boxes of toys and two boxes of coat closet contents, cleaned up Mercy's room, got rid of some stuff, and helped re-arrange furniture. We plan to start sanding the walls next week.
Sunday:
Today I am home with Mercy. Matthew has stayed home from church with sick kids for the past five weeks, so I took a turn this week. I am making Greek salad, pitas, and roasted red pepper hummus for when the boys get home, then we will all take naps, talk with family, and probably wrestle mania. I am grateful for Sunday.
