Hyrum Growing Up

Hyrum is growing up so fast. He is doing a great job using the potty, and while he occasionally puts his underwear on backwards, for the most part he can do the whole process with little to no assistance. He still wears a diaper at night (which he hates) but he is starting to wake up dry with some frequency so he is making good progress. We took the child safety thing off his doorknob, enabling him to come and go from his room as he pleases. We did this so he could come out during quiet time to use the bathroom, which he has done well. But it also means that containing him first thing in the morning when the rest of the family is still interested in being asleep is no longer a luxury we enjoy. The last several mornings he has come into our room while it's still quite dark informing us that he is "all done sleeping." Abraham is usually awake and ready to be "done sleeping" around 6:30 as well, so I guess it's as easy as not to have them both up. And the biggest indication that my firstborn is growing up is that today he started primary! Instead of dropping him off in his nursery class, I took him to the primary room and helped him find a seat in the front row. Our ward has 98 children in primary, and there are two full Sunbeam classes. They wanted to mix up the group a bit so that all the youngest weren't in the same class, and it worked out that Hyrum is in with mostly new kids (our nursery had three classes, and because of numbers Hyrum never made it to the oldest one, which Matthew happens to lead). The only one he is very familiar with is Anna, and since she wasn't there yet when I dropped him off, he was a bit apprehensive to let go of my hand and allow me leave. He did though, and when I picked him up at the end of church his teacher said he did great. I am very pleased, since he is the youngest new Sunbeam and was the worst behaved when his nursery class visited sharing time last week. Way to go Hyrum!

Hyrum and Anna back in October

Not only is my eldest reaching some personal milestones, but he is getting old enough to be useful. At least he is starting to learn about being useful. He loves to help me cook, and will help me clean by picking up toys and bringing dishes to the sink. The other day he even helped vacuum his bedroom.

And here's just a couple shots of Hyrum being silly, taken last Sunday after church.

Holy Moly! Adelle had her first primary experience too. Only...she's the only sunbeam. It's so fun to see them grow up, and sad at the same time. But Hooray for new and bigger experiences!
