Sometimes I wonder if anything I'm trying to teach my children is actually sinking in. Scripture study and Family Home Evening with a two year old tend to lack that spiritual serenity one typically associates with religious instruction, and I feel like I repeat myself a million times when it comes to things like staying out of the street and not using tools at the dinner table. We keep at it though, and I've started to see a few indications that at least something is sticking:
While looking through the Gospel Art book we came across a depiction of Joseph of Egypt fleeing from Potipher's wife and Hyrum shouted "Run Away!" and said something about "scary girls". He can also identify the illustrations of Moses and almost always asks to look at pictures of Jesus before nap time.
Whenever he's in the bath, Hyrum will hand me the big bottle of shampoo and say "Mama's 'poo". At least he knows not to dump that out in the tub (unlike the entire bottle of nail polish remover he emptied down the drain).
Hyrum found me in the kitchen standing on a chair in order to reach something on a top shelf and demanded, "Mama, sit on chair". It's moments like this that I am assured he understands a concept and is choosing to rebel.
While sitting in my lap wrapped in a towel after bath time the following conversation ensued:
H: Mama loves Hyrum.
Me: That's right.
thoughtful pause...
H: Hyrum loves Mama.

How cute! He is starting to look so grown up. Trust me . . . I still am having a hard time knowing if Lexi understands me . . . or just doesn't WANT to listen. Congratulations getting back to your pre-baby weight!
Moments like these are treasures for the heart, especially the "Hyrum loves Mama" one. You are probably right about the shape. I think it is awesome about the weight. I only did that once and then got pregnant with you. It was worth the weight gain:). I am looking forward to seeing you all. I just finished cleaning the fridge and we can stock it with things you eat.
